Ninth State Line – Ohio – and Another Century
Ninth State Line – Ohio – and Another Century
Sunday 16th June, 2019
Day 37
Today
I completed my 2nd century ride of the trip and set a new personal
best with 105 miles. Judi rode the middle the 1/3 of the ride.
Crossed
our 9th state line today and entered our 10th state –
Ohio. The terrain is starting to become
undulating (as can be seen by the cumulative climbing and descending numbers), consequently the fields are becoming smaller. Corn and soybean are the principal
crops. Starting to see large hog farms.

Day 37
Location:
Richmond, IN to Marysville, OH
Distance:
105 miles.
Temp: 67
- 78 F rain – overcast - sunny
Dew
point: - 69 F
Winds:
10 mph tailwind
Cumulative climbing distance: 2,404 ft
Cumulative descending distance: 2,510 ft
Started
at 7:00 AM this morning is heavy rain and almost complete darkness. Not an ideal way to start the day as our
clothes were wet the entire day. The
rain stopped after 2 hours and by 11:00 the sun was out for the remainder of the
day. Quite humid with a dew point of 69
F; so no drying of the wet clothes, especially the pants.
Entering Ohio in the rain.
The rain
during the past 36 hours exceeded several inches. Many fields are again partially flooded and
the streams are flooding over they banks.
Given the
rain and the long distance bike ride, little opportunity for photos today.
Our route today included mostly small county roads through farming country and small towns.
Most small towns have a few restored large mansions dating from the Victorian period.
US-shaped cookies with our trip route.
Our morning SAG wagon stop included a surprise visit (including treats) by family and friends of 2 of our riders from western Ohio.
Amish carriage on way to church.
Unique-shaped barns - octagonal and round.
