Into the High Country – Cooler Weather
Thursday 16th May, 2019
Day 6

Location: Wickenburg to Prescott, AZ
Distance: 60 miles   Biked only 32 miles
Temp: 68 F
Wind: 20-30 mph gusting to 40 mph
Cumulative climbing distance:  6,087 but only biked 1900 ft

Prescott elevation is 5337 ft.  Three days ago we started at 27 ft below sea level.  The elevation change resulted in 30 F lower temps.  Ideal for biking.

Great to be on the open road finally.  No urban streets and traffic.  No noisy freeway traffic.  Enjoying the fresh clean air and coolness of a morning ride.

Early morning desert scene.  We are heading into the mountains in the distance,

You know this story.  Another team flat.

At his point travel via trains seems very desirable means of seeing the West.

Gigantic dairy operation.  The black areas of 1000's of cows.

Departing the Arizona desert and heading into the high country.

Paula Farmer, our "mother hen", watching for her riders to pass and ensure all is OK.

 Looks like head of gorilla.

  Judi's next mode of travel.
